Ogden Outdoor Adventure Show 174 - Weber Pathways Trail Mixer

Todd to the Top outside Snowbasin Resort's Earl's Lodge host of the 3rd Annual Weber Pathways Trail Mixer.

Access to miles of scenic well-kept trails minutes from downtown Ogden takes a team of dedicated individuals to maintain. Weber Pathways is a non-profit organization dedicated to planning, promoting, constructing and protecting Weber County non-motorized trails.

We are committed to the idea that non-motorized network of public pathways significantly contribute to our community’s economic vitality and quality of life. - weberpathways.com

Clinking of glasses and the pitter-patter of late summer rain welcomed this year's annual Weber Pathways Trail Mixer at Snowbasin Resort. Attendees were greeted by Weber State Cheerleaders doing stunts in exchange for raffle tickets, tables of outdoor gear for the live and silent auctions, and live music. The fundraiser sold out raising a significant amount of money to help build and maintain local trails.

The who's who of Ogden were in attendance and many sat down with us as we recorded the Ogden Outdoor Adventure Show LIVE in Earl's Lodge. Todd to the Top and myself pulled podcast duty while John Wojciechowski gathered influential personalities like Weber Pathways Executive Director Mark Benigni, Chair Greg Scothern, Outreach Coordinator Rod Kramer, and Board of Trustees Member Mark Bunker.

The Goal Foundation's Jenny Scothern joined us to chat about the upcoming USA Cycling Masters Road National Championships in Ogden September 3rd - 7th. Chris Zimmerman, Executive Director of the Weber School District Foundation and the evenings auctioneer invited everyone to the Christmas Tree Jubilee which raises funds to enhance Weber County education. Future standup paddling pro, and Roosters Brewing Co. proprietor, Kym Buttschardt, spoke to us briefly about inspiring a paddling nation.

Ogden's Mayor, Mike Caldwell and his wife Cathrina (also a future standup paddling pro) also sat down with us. The Mayor who was a Weber Pathways board member for seven years displayed his passion for Ogden and the outdoor industry by reminding us that our little mountain town is home to 32 outdoor industry logos, over 2,000 outdoor industry employees, with over 400 full-time jobs in the bike industry alone. Home to 240 miles of trails and uncrowded 10,000+ skiable acres, Ogden is an outdoor enthusiasts dream base camp.

The Caldwell's have adopted the Burch Creek Trail and as Cathrina explains, "people are pretty respectful" referring to trail upkeep and the lack of garbage on that particular trail. Weber Pathways exists to educate and inform others to help keep all our County trails in proper order.
