INTERVIEW: Rick Momsen & Stefani Dawn | Climb-On Maps
"We go to climb, not waste time," a quote found on the homepage of Climb-On Maps, a new mapping company founded by husband and wife team Rick Momsen and Stefani Dawn. Designed to be used as an accompaniment to Mountain Project or a local guide book, Climb-On Maps gets climbers to the crag without wasting time. Drill down mapping providing both large scale overviews along with close-up directions helps route finders navigate large climbing areas like Red Rock Canyon and (coming soon) Joshua Tree.
In this podcast, we learn about Rick's pro process of mapping, that "soul crushing" approaches are an actual designation, the invention of Crag Summary Circles, and the reason for paper over digital.
When you put your life savings into something, it must be important. Rick and Stefani have done just that with Climb-On Maps. Mad props to the owners of this young company for following their dreams and changing their lives all to help climbers expeditiously get vertical.
